Many original Leica prisms have a special coating on the reflective surface and a copper coating on the underside. Without this technology, the measurement distance, ATR and super search range may be reduced by 30%. The craftsmanship and durability of the special coating make the prism durable. The matching degree of the size of the prism glass surface and the mirror frame, as well as its spatial orientation, have an important influence on the measurement accuracy.
Leica prisms are made of high-quality glass and equipped with optical coatings. Even when working in extremely harsh environments, the highest measurement accuracy can be obtained and the normal service life of the instrument can be guaranteed.
Centering accuracy:
If the original Leica prism holder is not used, measurement errors are often brought about. Imitations cannot be manufactured in strict accordance with Leica manufacturing standards, causing deviation and displacement of the prism and bracket during the installation process.
Scope:
The deviation of the prism beam angle determines the farthest measurement distance. The smaller the deviation of the beam angle, the more the signal from the transmitter can be received back.
Service life:
Unlike many traditional prism structures, the bottom surface of Leica prisms has a reflective copper coating composed of an adhesive layer, a copper coating, a protective layer, and a shaping layer. The copper coating and shaping layer extend the service life of the prism, and the additional coating on the surface of the prism increases scratch protection.
measurement accuracy:
If there is no reflective coating, the front surface of the prism will directly reflect a certain proportion of the signal, causing errors in close-range measurements.
